Ideal times to visit Melbourne depend on what you plan to do. Take note the AFL football season does not run through summer, whereas the cricket season runs all summer long. In terms of weather, Autumn (March through to May) is generally the best time of the year to visit Melbourne – if you’re not keen on cool weather, it’s wise to avoid the cooler months of July and August. Be aware that temperatures can get quite hot and into the forties in summer.
